Well worth getting lube on my hands
The Thruster line of penetrating dildos by Velvet Co are handheld fucking machines. I was fortunate enough to try out the Jackie last year - Thruster Jackie Review. I love the Jackie but one of the few complaints is that it is heavy and somewhat awkward to hang onto. Along comes the mini version—Thruster Teddy—which solves those issues.
The first thing I really liked about the Teddy was that it came in multiple colours and those colours weren't all in the pink/purple range. I got a beautiful mint green Teddy but I would have happily had the red or black, which are equally gorgeous. It's really nice to have toy manufacturers branch out in their colour choices, which can get pretty dull.
It is much lighter than the original Thruster Jackie. The smaller motor means it doesn't have the same mind-melting power of the original, but when I sent Flick a post-O selfie after playing with the Teddy, he said I looked shook. And shook I was. The Teddy's top speed (of 6) is a relentless 125 strokes/minute (compared to 140 in the Jackie) but I can't complain about only amazing as compared to really fucking amazing. One generally uses the middle speeds for the majority of a wank session anyway.
Being lighter with a smaller motor means the Teddy is also easier to hold onto. With the Jackie my hands were often forced away from my body with each thrust rather than the thrust coming toward me but I didn't have that issue with the Teddy. The lights on the base of the Teddy give you an easy sense of where you are in the range of speeds and the suction cup means you can attach it to the wall of the shower (or device of your choosing) and go hands-free.
A smart blogger also discovered that the flared base of suction cup means it works in some harnesses and if you're down for some really lazy fucking with a partner—especially in cowpoke position (heh, poke)—the Teddy could work well.
The controls on the Teddy are very simple and easy to use with a palpably different plus and minus sign. This and the fact that the Teddy is fairly light and small means that it could be a good option for those with mobility challenges. It's also splashproof at the least, being fully encased in silicone, including a silicone plug for the recharge port which makes it easy to wash.
Like the Jackie the silicone on the Teddy is really lovely and velvety to the touch. The ridges on the shaft are palpable inside but not so much to be an irritant, which I've found can happen with really textured toys. The 5 inch shaft that expands a further 4 inches initially looked short but in use, I have no complaints. I'm a fan of the girth as well—not huge, not small—just a nice medium dildo which could also be used for anal penetration.
One small issue I had on my initial test was holding it too close to my body so my vulva felt a little pinched by the folds as it retracts. Maybe less than pinched, but I could feel it, which for my 'Princess and the Pea' self can be distracting. The second time I used the Teddy I didn't notice that issue, so my body might have just been cranky that first day.
I'd highly recommend the Thruster Teddy if you're looking to invest in a thrusting dildo. It is still an investment but I consider it a worthy one. I also feel good about supporting Velvet Co. who have been really great communicators and have an awesome site where none of the toys are gendered but sold to be used for vaginal or anal play.
I've realized that I don't often play with insertion toys when I just want to get off because I really hate getting lube on my hands then having to continue on with my play with lube-covered hands (I really must get some towels next to the bed). My one sentence review of the Thruster Teddy is that it's well worth getting lube on my hands.
